Django Blog - Advanced Features

Overview

This GitHub repository contains the source code for a Django blog application with advanced features. In the previous chapter, we focused on defining canonical URLs for models, creating SEO-friendly URLs for blog posts, implementing object pagination for post lists, and working with Django forms and model forms. Additionally, a system to recommend posts by email and a comment system for the blog were implemented.

Features of application

  1. Tagging System: implement a tagging system for blog. This feature allows us to categorize posts based on relevant keywords, providing a structured way for users to explore content.

  2. Complex QuerySets: build complex QuerySets to retrieve objects by similarity. This feature enables us to recommend related posts to users, enhancing engagement and content discoverability.

  3. Custom Template Tags and Filters: Explore the creation of custom template tags and filters to extend the functionality of our templates. This allows for more dynamic and personalized presentation of content.

  4. Custom Sitemap and Feed: Build a custom sitemap and feed for our blog posts. This is essential for improving search engine optimization (SEO) and ensuring that search engines can efficiently crawl and index our content.

  5. Full-Text Search Functionality: Implement a powerful full-text search functionality for our posts. This feature enhances the user experience by enabling users to find relevant content quickly.
