Houses of Hope

Made for Girls Who Code NYC's Hack for Humanity 2022 event.

See deployed application: https://find-housing-app.herokuapp.com/

This application is intended to match landlords and tenants using criteria that is normally overlooked in the tenancy process - traits like neighborhood culture, and tenants who intend to volunteer in their community and make it a better place.

The goal of this application is to match tenants who may be discriminated against through conventional processes because they "don't look good on paper," for reasons like having been formerly incarcerated.

We believe that our communities are overall stronger when more people are stably housed in them.

We also believe that landlords and tenants can both benefit from a process that humanizes one another - it creates more accountable relationships in paying rent or doing repairs when the parties are more invested in each other.

The next steps for the implementation of this application would be analyzing and quantifying the data collected from the landlord & tenant surveys and algorithmically matching them in high-success possibility pairs.
