A simple docker container to share a folder on the network
It is 2017. I am hired to build out an office for a small law firm. I proudly explain to the partners, "Your firm is going to be a millennial law firm. Everything is going to be in the cloud. Files, phone system. The only thing you will having in the office are user workstations and a multifunction copier."
"That's great. First thing we need is to setup scanning to a network share."
Doh!
This docker container was created so I could connect a multifunction copier to a network share in a office without a proper file server or NAS. This could also be done from Windows workstation and I wanted something simplier and easier to manage.
It could be used as a file server and it really was not intended for long term storage of files or fine-grained security. It is just a way to drop a file on the network, so it can be retrieved from another device on the same network before being filed away properly on a on premise file server/NAS or in the cloud.
