This code doesn't appear to work on Windows 10 yet. I think this is the same issue as #3.

I believe the issue is that colItems returns a list (newline separated) and it's messing up the Regular Expressions. I've made a workaround that appears to work on newer Windows installations. Replace the function GetComPorts with the following function:

            		portList.Add objRegMatches.Item(0).Value, objItem 
        end if

Note: I'm unfamiliar with VBS and this is not thoroughly tested.

Anybody has an idea how this fix would be applied to the C version to fix: #4 ?

I would much prefer to run the .exe as the .vbs script executes much slower :)

For most cases it could actually be enough to just call the wmic.exe directly:
wmic path Win32_PnPEntity where "Name like '%(COM%'" get Name,DeviceID
Outputs:

DeviceID                                       Name
USB\VID_239A&PID_800B&MI_00\6&283305BE&0&0000  USB Serial Device (COM16)

Nice. I tried newer Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure (because MS marked System.management as obsolete and slow), but I got error about connection to remote host :/
But it's first time what I tried something in C# :D
