I honestly don't know if this is actually possible, but this could be a game changer in terms of user experience.

As far as I understand, VLC plugins are coded in Lua, but maybe the Lua script could call ffs? Or maybe something can be done with python-vlc?

I did look into this at one point and it was more involved than what I had bandwidth for at that time. Given that my bandwidth has only decreased, my guess is that the situation is largely unchanged, though maybe in 2025 it's possible to vibe-code something together :)
