wishlist: ball-style gauges

It's currently very difficult to model gauges that rely on 3D motions. for example:

SVG does't have great 3D support, maybe some CSS tricks would help

d3 has good support for spherical geometry (https://d3js.org/d3-geo/shape)

could probably create a self-indicating ball gauge with kind=sphere ?

labels are still difficult, but iirc you can use the geo projection to get the local normal and use that to rotate/skew the text appropriately?
