how to use customized metrics for early stop

and we there are many metrics set in params['metric'] and feval_list.
which metric will be used for early stopping.
i'm using lgb v4.1.0.

i've tried to use customize ap metrics through feval.
but the training behavior is exactly the same as use the default auc metric.
i'm suspicious whether it take effect or not.
