Add font ligature support (like JetBrains Mono)

It would be awesome if Google Sans Mono supported programming ligatures, similar to fonts like JetBrains Mono or Fira Code.
Ligatures make code look cleaner and more readable, and it would definitely add a juicy touch to the developer experience 😄

Agree with you. But this problem can easily be solved and everyone will be happy:
Jetbrains bundles 2 fonts: JetbrainsMono and JetbrainsMonoNL (No Ligatures).
I don't think that it's that hard and every font shipping ligatures should provide an NL version! Btw in many fonts they can also be disabled by tweaking opentype features in editor/terminal settings (cool, but isn't really an option in many cases).
